GOOD MORNING WATERGATE !!! MONDAY SEPTEMBER 26, 2011

THE WEATHER: Chance of thunderstorms. Highs in the eighties.

NO METRO DELAYS

THE BIG STORY: They're at it again.  Congress is back...big deal...First order of business is try to avert another government shutdown. It's all over disaster relief ---- and how to help people affected by earthquakes, hurricanes, forest fires, tornadoes...sadly, the list goes on. The House passed a measure but tied to it a stipulation that money spent has to be connected to cuts in an another area. Does this sound very debt ceilingish? The Senate won't go along..and has blocked a Republican measure to fund all over government through November 18th. Both sides are trying to figure out a compromise.

SYRIA SERIOUSNESS: Rumblings of a possible revolt in Syria. Neighbors Lebanon and Israel and even Turkey nervous.

AFGHAN TROUBLE: Another American killed today by Taliban forces.

SPORTS: The Nats won again over the Braves. The Red Sox beat the Yankees in14 innings and split a twin-bill. They lead in the wildcard race over the Rays by a game. Tonight they square off against the Orioles. And the Redskins take  on the Cowboys in Dallas.
